Haku | Sakura

A cloth to wear.

At a weaving mill in Osaka
with over a century of history,
a third-generation artisan developed
this distinctive cotton weave
more than ten years ago.

Finished using the traditional
wazarashi process,
this cloth can no longer be made.

Remarkably soft for cotton,
with depth and a texture of its own.

With use, it seems to hold more air
and gradually softens against the skin.

Sakura is individually hand-dyed
with natural dyes by Zenjun and Maaya.

Its soft, lingering colour is part
of the cloth's quiet character.

The fringes at both ends
are finished by hand by Maaya.

Hand-dyed in Osaka, Japan

Finished in a traditional process,
entrusted to water and steam.

Natural dyes are then applied by hand,
layer by layer,
to each individual piece.

Dyed in a soft, pale tone,
while preserving the softness of the cloth.

The colour is not completely uniform.
Subtle variations in shade and tone may occur.

Inherited from a textile maker
with over a century of history.

This fabric cannot be reproduced.
