zen no ma|Izumi cotton

breathing fabric

Fabric embodies the passage of time through use.

The softness when touched.
The expressions when illuminated by light.

And the deepening texture with continued use.

It retains a quiet beauty
not found in new items.

Izumi cotton from zen no ma
is a fabric born in a wazarashi (Japanese gauze) weaving mill with over 100 years of history.

It uses original wazarashi fabric
developed by the third-generation owner over a decade ago.

It is a precious deadstock fabric
that can no longer be acquired today.

Woven slowly,
without applying strong tension to the threads,
as if incorporating air.

The resulting fabric
is so soft and has such depth of texture
that it hardly seems like cotton at first glance.

A fabric with a linen-like texture
and imbued with the essence of Japan.

Not overly refined,
leaving just a little room.

That slight room
transforms into softness when it touches the skin.

Wash, dry, and use again.

Through this repetition,
it gradually becomes a part of one's life.

It's not deterioration,
but the accumulation of time.

In the midst of fleeting days,
you find yourself always holding it.

A fabric that, with continued use,
takes on the wearer's time.

It simply accompanies your daily life.
