zen no ma|Izumi cotton
breathing fabric
Fabric embodies the time it has been used.
The softness when touched.
Its expression when it catches the light.
And the texture that deepens with use.
It retains a quiet beauty
that new items do not possess.
zen no ma's Izumi cotton
is a fabric born in a wazarashi (Japanese traditional bleached cotton) weaving mill that has been in business for over 100 years.
We use original wazarashi fabric
developed by the third generation owner more than a decade ago.
It is now a valuable deadstock fabric
that cannot be obtained.
Woven slowly,
without putting strong tension on the threads,
as if allowing air to be incorporated.
The fabric thus created
is so soft and has such a deep texture
that at first glance, it's hard to believe it's cotton.
Fabric with a linen-like texture
and an essence of Japanese air.
Not overly refined,
leaving just a little margin.
That slight margin
transforms into a softness when it touches the skin.
Wash, dry, and use again.
Through this repetition,
it gradually blends into one's daily life.
It is not deterioration,
but the accumulation of time.
In the midst of fleeting days,
you'll always find yourself holding it.
A fabric that, the more it is used,
the more it embodies one's time.
It simply accompanies your everyday life.
