MADE BY HAND
Hand-spun, hand-woven, and hand-dyed.

The culmination of handiwork
Eri silk is hand-spun, hand-woven and hand-dyed.

This fabric, called "peace silk," is a life-saving material because the thread is extracted without killing the silkworms.

The warmth of human hands and the natural flow of time combine to create a texture that is one of a kind.

This Eri silk stole was handwoven to a design by JAN-JAN VAN ESSCHE at the 7WEAVES workshop in the tropical valleys of Assam, India.

The locally grown dropspun silk is first dyed with myrobalan and then soaked in fermented jaggery to create a deep black colour.

It has subtle shades of stone-like mauve and lilac pink, and the yellow-green color extracted from onion skin gives it a metallic sheen.

The rich texture and natural colors that can only be achieved through hand-spun yarn give it a mineral-like depth, and it softens and changes over time.

The edges are hand-fringed and feature an inlay weave inspired by sari patterns, giving the piece a tranquil and playful feel.
