RITE
An Eternal Ritual of Craft and Culture
January 11, 2023, a night in Florence.
In the silence of Santa Maria Novella Church
The cloth became a "ritual" rather than a "presentation."
Not a show to watch — a time to enter.
The Invitation
On the hotel bed
An invitation was placed quietly.
There is little decoration.
But every time we touch, my heart rate just increases slightly.
That was the signal for the door to open.
A Sacred Space, Bathed in Light
Church of Santa Maria Novella.
As night falls,
The presence of stone and air becomes thicker.
The view from the hotel window
It wasn't the scenery, it was the lingering impression itself.
The Stage of Art and Movement
The space breathes in anticipation.
The space stops for just a moment.
Part I — Stillness & Gravitas
Church hall.
The moment the model appears, silence takes over the room.
JJVE PROJECT #11 “RITE”.
The weight of the fabric and its quiet movement
Brings back old memories.
Inspired by Pina Bausch's “The Rite of Spring”.
Part II — The Rhythm of Life
Next came the dancers' bodies.
The tie-dyed fabric sways as if dancing,
The clothes emerge as living things rather than objects.
The rhythm created by movement
It showed the freedom and harmony of JJVE.
Part III — Touch, and Dialogue
There were many conversations that night.
Before words,
The fabric carries understanding.
Its existence,
It completely changes the atmosphere.
Lamine Diouf, the craftsman who appeared at the end of the runway.
Wearing textiles that she wove herself,
I could see the temperature of his hands and the strength of the time.
Courtyard — Rhythm, Reverence
The celebration is quiet,
It just fills up quietly.
JJVE — A Philosophy of Clothing
Tradition and modernity, nature and people, stillness and movement.
JJVE's clothing is made by
It is made up of unraveling those boundaries.
Respect for the material.
Inheritance of technology.
Freedom of the wearer.
That attitude is,
It quietly resonates with BORDEAUX's values.
To wear it is to carry time — quietly.
Closing
Fleeting moments, eternal memories.
As the only BORDEAUX restaurant in Japan invited to this evening,
I'm happy to share this experience with you.
This is not a show,
Across time and culture,
It was a ritual.
